Get to know The Flower Mama

​Growing these beautiful blooms brings me so much joy, and a huge part of that is being able to connect with you and share in your stories, the moments of love, and heartbreak and grief and gratitude.

The Flower Mama started when the wee one was just 9 months old, when money was tight and I was looking for something that I could do for myself in the little time that I had spare, while still giving my all to raising my gorgeous daughter. 

 

Truthfully, when it came to me that I should sell some of my flowers, it was less about making money. I was barely a gardener and certainly not a farmer, I spent my 20s working as a First Mate on Superyachts, no plants there! I really thought I would just make enough to be able to buy some plants for the shade garden, gain the skills to grow some of our own food, and give me some purpose to my day, but wow! The support from the local community has absolutely blown me away and here we are with a real live business!

Now I grow all our flowers right here in Nelson City on what used to be used to be lawn, and this season we expanded to an empty section down the road. I harvest your flowers at the peak time, giving you the longest vase life and freshest blooms. With a little help, I have put in a greenhouse for raising seedlings and growing lovely plump homegrown tomatoes for lunchboxes, built a farmstand for out front and crammed garden beds into every available space (leaving room for the trampoline of course!)

Our blooms allow you to breathe in their scent deeply and freely, safe in the knowledge that you are only inhaling the beauty of nature. I use sustainable practices, and I don't use harmful chemicals or pesticides, here at The Flower Mama we believe in living in harmony with Mother Nature.

We sell wrapped bouquets from the farmstand in Washington Valley as well as online. We are running Bouquet Subscriptions this upcoming season so you can set and forget and have a weekly or monthly bouquet treat! And this Summer will be introducing workshops and events such as Pop-up Bouquet Bars, on-site events and maybe even a bouquet workshop or two. Feel free to let me know what you'd like to see!
